Tis the Season

I love this season. I love the crisp, cool air, the smell of someone burning wood in their fireplace, knowing that the year is coming to an end, and the holidays that are back to back. I love Thanksgiving, I also hate Thanksgiving. I love being with friends and family and being able to sit at home and just hang out, be lazy, and stuff myself full of delicious food.
I hate Thanksgiving because it not only brings back painful memories of losing a loved one on that day, but the next day is Black Friday!! (You should now hear an ominous Du..Du..Dunnnn sound.) For those of you love to shop on that day, I dislike you. Working in retail, Thanksgiving is the day, or night, that you wish you could die with a stomach full of turkey and stuffing and pie because the next day is H. E. Double Hockey Sticks!!
I look forward to the day that I no longer have to crawl out of bed on a morning when EVERYONE ELSE has the day off BUT ME because I have to be to work so that YOU can buy crap that you think you're getting awesomes deals on. Guess what? That's all it is, it's crap, it will break on Christmas morning and honestly, you're not getting THAT great of a deal. Trust me, I've been in retail now for 7 holiday seasons.
"Why don't you just quit?" you might ask. I TRIED!! I tried putting in a two weeks notice a month and a half ago. Do you think it worked? NO! When your husband is the manager and makes the schedule, he thinks he can keep scheduling you even though you told him YOU QUIT!! So, this coming Thursday while everyone and their families are getting together and eating and being merry and scavanging the ads to find 'deals' for the next day... I'll be doing the same thing with one exception. I will be shredding those ads!!!
