Children of Winter

Every fall, Eric and I look forward to going and seeing Warren Miller's new ski movie. This year it was titled 'Children of Winter.' It always gears us up and gets us excited for the upcoming ski season. This year, I was getting ready for work one morning and as I sat down to eat my breakfast I turned on the morning news. It was almost 7 am and Fox 13 happened to be interviewing two of the skiers from the movie. After they were done with the interview, they announced that they were giving away 10 pairs of tickets to the showing of their choice to the first 10 callers. I thought to myself, "How many people are actually going to call? It's still pretty early." I grabbed Eric's phone and started to dial the number which happened which was something like 570-KSTU. Eric's phone happens to be a Blackberry and it has the full keyboard instead of just the numbers. I put his phone down, got up and grabbed mine, and dialed the number. It was busy. I hung up and hit redial. it was busy. I hung up and hit redial again. It was still busy. I decided to try one more time, so i redialed the number and it was still busy. Thinking by now they probably had all their winners. I put my phone down and continued eating my breakfast. I decided to try one more time so I picked up my phone and hit redial. It was ringing!! It rang a couple of times and I thougt to myself, "They probably have all their callers. I'm going to hang up." Right as I was pulling the phone away from my head, I hear, "Hi, you're a winner, what's your name?" Kind of surprised, I replied, "Staci Newren?" It then dawned on me that I had just won. I got really excited and ran into the bedroom where Eric was still asleep. I just had to tell him at that moment despite the fact that he was sleeping. He too was excited although groggy. Now we didn't have to spend $18 a ticket for the two of us to go. We went to the movie on Tursday night, it was a sold out show and it was great!! I'm all excited to be out on the slopes now, wind in my face, snow in my hair, and Eric in my dust!! (He won't like that comment. But it's true!! :) ) I got my picture taken as a Utah snowflake while we were there. I was told I make a cute snowflake. What do you think?
